Canadian Traditional, Self-Publishing & Hybrid Publishers

Just some of the Publishing Firms I’ve found so far, and most are Canadian based – the majority of which are listed members of the Canadian Publishers Association – however, some may have offices located in other countries. Finding the right method of publishing, or publisher, is like finding a needle in a haystack. Be aware! Not all traditional publishers are the same, and they all have their own methods and procedures for manuscript submissions. I personally, chose to publish with a ‘hybrid’ publisher – Book Baby – because I wanted the control, ownership, and rights to my work, but I also wanted the best royalties available, as well as a distribution channel that reached the world. I got all of that, in one easy to use control dashboard, where I can do anything and everything an author would want or need to do to publish, promote, market, sell, advertise and offer discounts or coupons. I wish you all the best on your journey.

Free & Paid Images for Personal & Commercial Use

A time-consuming thing it can be to find the right images for a project, whether that project is a book cover, poster, banner, or a social media header.  This list will expand with time, as I locate more of these websites, so come back often.  Please note that some of these websites may ask you to create an account, and it is probably a good thing that you do.  Read through their Licensing Terms & Conditions to be sure that you have the right to use, manipulate, and/or transform any image prior to downloading and using them.  Do the CYA and stay legal – you’ll save yourself a world of stress if you do.  Best of luck to you in your projects.

Canadian Copyright Act, Registration & Laws

It’s not enough to wing-it, don’t make any guesses here!  You cannot claim innocent to Copyright infringement – it’s a criminal offense – whether you know or don’t know, it is up to you to learn and find out, prior to writing anything about anyone, or their work.  Know how to protect your work, and understand how to prevent a potential lawsuit.  Here are the links to Canadian Copyright Law – the Act & Registration, Q&A, FAQ, and legal advice on all the Do’s and Don’ts.  Do the DIY and the CYA, you won’t regret it in the long term.
