5 STARS from Madlyn Doey on Cocooning The Butterfly

“Drama, mystery, feuds, sorrow, joy, unconditional love, unconscionable hate and abuse, and healing the heart and soul.  Laila Doncaster, you rock; a stellar author.  Kept me enthralled the whole darn book!  Hurry up and get book 2 done so I can continue with the story.  I could not put it down!.”  Review by Madlyn Doey ~ British Columbia, Canada

My Friend Flicka by Mary O’Hara

In the book, the main character is a young boy, but in the movie, Ken’s a girl – either way, a child who loves a horse, is a child who loves a horse. This horse, however, is dangerous, wild, and unpredictable – both horse and child need each other. One of my favorite books about horse lovers, Flicka should be read and the movie visited often by all children, teens and adults alike.

Pearl Harbor by Randall Wallace

Old-fashioned love during a time of war, who gets the girl? All the dynamics of a great story and read, turned to film repeatedly over the years. War. Love. Best friends. Danger. Death. Randall Wallace wrote with such care the words that make you feel, see, hear, and smell this horrid war surrounding a love structured to last a lifetime. Pages turn like the frames of a film reel, and your mind sees everything unfold. Five thumbs up for this book, and film.

Not many young people these days are gifted with the thrill of good reading, so if you’re looking for a great read for your kids this year, this is it. A family that works together, plays together, loves together, and bonds together so tightly that nothing can tear them apart. Every time something stressful or bad happens, and every time something good and wonderful happens, this family’s ties become stronger. Just what the world needs today, is a lesson in how to escape the ‘modern box’ to live happy and free once more.
