Sing Me Home – A NaNoWriMo 2018 Challenge

I was challenged a few weeks ago by several of my author friends, to write a book in thirty days.  I love a good challenge.  NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) for 2018 begins November 1, 2018 and carries on to the end of the month, an annual writing contest.  I accepted the challenge, entered the contest, and as of today, I’m a week ahead of schedule with my preparations.  The book is outlined, characters defined, plot and sub-plot laid out, social media images created and applied, book cover and video trailer created, and I’m set, ready to rock and roll.  I have exactly 30 days to write this book, and hand in the rough draft of a minimum of 50K words.  I believe I can do it, if the phone does not ringing to beckon my attention, nobody knocks on the door, my chores are done, meals prepared in the fridge or freezer, and my husband agrees to hand me food and coffee for the entire month of November.

You can find me on the NaNoWriMo website by searching for my ‘handle’ which is simple enough, considering I’ve used my full name with no spaces … or, you can click my name here and send me a writing buddy request … LailaDoncaster

Below is a short blurb about this new book, the cover image, and the book trailer as well … yes, I’ve been a busy bee, and I am pumped!

Book Description for “Sing Me Home”

“Passion for music put him in the wrong bar, on the wrong night.  Murder.  A life sentence for an innocent man.  His guitar sang death row to their doom.  Free in a world he knows nothing of, musical memories haunt him.  A cowboy’s song was all he needed to give up the ghost.  Sing Me Home, was his last request.”

This project is scheduled to commence Nov 1/18 during #NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and will release to the public upon completion of the contest, as well as the editing, polishing, proofreading, formatting, and publishing processes.

5 STARS from C. Michael Bennis on Cocooning The Butterfly

5 of 5 stars – MAGNIFICENT narrative with the touch of excellence

“Very quickly I became caught up in the narrative and was trapped irrevocably with this delicious heroine who was orphaned at a very young age and left alone to cope for her self and not surprisingly made bad decisions that really hurt. Then suffering horrible consequences, she takes control of her life. It is an adrenaline pumping experience where I was loudly cheering her on as SHE began to turn her life around. This is the stuff of Gabriel Garcia Marquez where — carefully crafted and beautifully constructed fiction is irreversibly captivating. This extraordinary and remarkably fabulous narrative has a way of trapping the reader at the edge of his or her seat. To say I could not put the book down is the truth. This is a great experience. I COMPLETELY RECOMMEND THIS FIRST BOOK!”  Amazon Review by C. Michael Bennis, Author & Speaker ~ Tucson, Arizona USA

Thank you Mr Bennis for your kind words, encouragement and praise.  To be compared to such a writer as Gabriel Garcia Marquez (learn more about Mr Marquez on his IMDb Profileis to be honored with the highest regard for my writing, and I accept this as not only an honor, but a privilege.  You have given me the courage to continue writing, and I thank you, from the bottom of my heart.  And, I am so very happy that you enjoyed the book.

Cocooning The Butterfly by Laila Doncaster – Official Book Trailer

If Halya had known what the Knight Riders stood for, stood against, and what they did to protect her life from the Demons Den gang, would she have experienced the trauma and heartache that she had gone through?

Possibly, but that’s not what happened or how it was.

Sheltered and innocent to the reality of the bikers that swarmed about her everyday life, and the modern world, her family did what they had to do to save her from sure death. The Demons wanted her dead, but they had to find her first.

Orphaned and uneducated about the real world she was bullied, beaten, shunned, molested, raped, battered, harassed and broken, but her faith and will to endure gave her the strength to search for the man in her nightly dreams.

This is Halya’s side of the story, what she went through and how she overcame the pain and sorrow of her past.

Loving her, protecting her, sheltering her in warmth and tenderness, her dream man, The Buffalo, it was his destiny in Cocooning the Butterfly that would save her spirit from sure madness, as he used his horse whisperer’s tactics to make her feel safe.

A biker’s war, a long-standing feud over a multi-million dollar ranch, one boy and one girl were destined to achieve the promise of the old men of long ago.
